Artifcts: Preserving memories, telling stories, and decluttering the "stuff"

It has been a hot summer here in the Denver area. We've broken several records, even one that had previously held the title for 146 years (back when the state was not even two years old)!
Now, I love to spend as much time outside as possible, but on these hot days I find myself forced to spend more time inside. In trying to find a way to beat the heat and stay productive, I began to declutter and organize around the house a bit.
During the process I came across items I've tucked away over the years. You know, those things that you keep because of the memories they hold, or perhaps even the guilt around the fact that it was gifted by a loved one or inherited from someone who is now gone? Yes, those ones.
In my case, I'm talking about high school and college ID cards; a Rotary pin bestowed upon me by my Dad back in middle school; and even an old doll named "Mrs. Beasley" that was passed from my late grandmother, to my Mom, to me.
While these certainly hold meaning and memories for me, they are also items I tend to only revisit when infrequently "organizing" around the house.
It got me thinking - what am I ever going to actually do with these things?
I know from the work I've done with clients in both our legacy and estate organizing services, as well as after loss consulting, that I am not the only one to struggle with this question.
My next thought was - is there a way I could document these items to preserve the memories and stories, without them taking up the physical space they are?
Which leads me to the big announcement you've been waiting for!
I'm excited to announce that After Loss Advisors is now a registered "Artipro" through Artifcts, and will be adding this as an optional add-on alongside all of our service offerings.
Haven't heard of Artifcts? Artifcts is a unique platform that helps people preserve the memories of their treasured items without having to keep the physical items. Beyond just the decluttering side, there are also options to tell stories behind any object, photography, trip, or otherwise using a combination of images, audio, video and text.
Do you have a furniture piece that has been passed down from generation to generation, and you want to preserve the details and stories that have come with it?
Perhaps your family member has photos and mementos from their time serving in the Navy. You've heard the stories about these times, and you know all of these items are stored in a chest somewhere in the basement, but know that it just won't be the same if the stories aren't preserved and coming in the voice of your loved one.
Maybe you're a new parent that doesn't want the traditional "scrapbook" (or 20), but still wants to preserve memories including photos, videos, artwork and more.
Artifcts can help in all of these ways, and more!
With summer vacations coming to an end and school about to start, maybe you're considering decluttering and organizing your own space. If you'd like to learn more about our services and how we could help you with your own Artifcts, schedule a complementary consultation with us today .
